Prince
The Rainbow Children
Rainbow Children is Prince's twenty-fourth studio album, marking a period of significant transformation for the artist as the new millennium approached. In 2000, he reclaimed his birth name after seven years as an unpronounceable symbol. Following this, The Rainbow Children was released at the end of 2001. Billed as "controversial" for its openly spiritual message, the jazz-inspired record stands as Prince's first fully independent release, issued without major label backing.
